This Jackson Lake Lodge Wedding was a dream to photograph. For one, I will take any change to photograph in the Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. Having a Grand Teton wedding affords you the ability to have so much variety for your photographs and there's tons to do for your guests. It's just such a special and magical place. Then, when you pair that with a couple that love each other completely and are game for all your goofy ideas and are just as excited about the nature as you, I could shoot this wedding over and over and be completely happy everytime.
I think one of my signs of a great venue is leaving with feeling like you did a great job, but also feel like there was more you could do. Some locations have very little to work with and I certainly do my best but in the end I really feel like I couldn't have done it better. The Tetons are awe inspiring.
Janine and Luke did it right. They had a smaller wedding with just the people they love, and family. Just kidding! I think they did have the right plan. Instead of getting married where they're from with 200+ people and potentially going into debt. Why not just have the people you really care about and those that care about you and share an amazing weekend in a place you love and want to share with them. I've said it a lot that I love the Grand Tetons but the key is not the Tetons, but finding that special place for you as a couple and having the right people with you.
What's my special place? Its a secret, and no, it's not Grand Teton National Park or Jackson Hole... although I do love them and always love to go back.
Like I mentioned before about leaving a place and feeling like you have more places to explore... I got to take Janine and Luke to a few of them. The Jackson Lake Lodge is a gorgeous venue and has an incredible view but I just wanted to give Janine and Luke more. I found a neat spot near the lodge with Aspen trees that were turning gold, as it was fall (my favorite season), but after that there wasn't enough variation for me so we left to wander into Grand Teton NP for a few spots I haven't bee able to photograph yet. Janine and Luke later told me that this was one of their highlights of the day. Getting a break away from everyone to enjoy the forest and nature. Feedback like that fills my heart.
