Heather and Mark chose the Black Canyon Inn in Estes Park for the spot to hold their wedding for a few reasons. The first is probably the view of the ceremony site; it's grand and gorgeous. The next would be that you and your guests can stay right there on the property in some amazing log cabins with just the right level of rustic. Another would be its close proximity to Estes Park but also just far enough to feel like you are really away from it all. And then you have the Rocky Mountain National Park right there. A massive mountain playground where you can see tons of elk and deer and hike to some really incredible mountain views. I think as a wedding photographer I like to have options for various locations and situations and The Black Canyon Inn has it all. After all, its a wedding an its not like you can do it over if the weather doesn't cooperate. Thankfully Colorado is generally very localized with storms and either it will be over in 15 minutes or we can drive away from it.
Heather and Mark came from the midwest to have their perfect Colorado Wedding. They wanted a bit of adventure and solitude. Their wedding was smaller and with just the most important people in their lives. Mark and I were even greeted by a whistle pig (groundhog) while taking portaits.
They held the ceremony on the covered patio overlooking the massive mountains and held their reception at the delicious Twin Owls Restaurant which is also on the Black Canyon Inn property. I have shot weddings at the Black Canyon Inn a few times but this was my first eating at the restaurant and woah, it is delicious. They made this amazing chicken that I immediately knew I felt like I had to eat it all.
Like I mentioned before we're so close to Rocky Mountain National Park that of course, we have to go do portraits up there. We didn't have a lot of time to explore but luckily I've been there NUMEROUS times and know where to go depending on the look you want. Heather and Mark opted for giant mountaintop views. You got it!
I am available for all of Colorado and destination weddings and engagements. I love to wander.
