Colorado seemed to be plagued with weird weather last fall. I submit Lilly and Greg's Della Terra Mountain Chateau Wedding in Estes Park as evidence. The weather had been pretty unpredicatable. It could rain, it could be foggy, it could be clear and beautiful, who knows. As a wedding photographer you have to plan for almost anything. Luckily I have a bunch of rain gear to cover my cameras in and so I can get crazy soaked , my cameras stay dry, and I can keep shooting confidently.
The day started with a drizzle but not really raining yet. I was so worried but as soon as I saw Lilly and how happy and excited she was, it all faded. This is why I love weddings. There is so much love and excitement, that it can overcome the weirdest of weather. In the end she knew it didn't matter and that made me let it go and make the best of it.
My personal goal for her was to make it seem like there wasn't this torrential downpour, which there was, but I knew I could hide it. I am really pleased with these. You can see during the ceremony that clearly everyone has umbrellas and ponchos and it's kinda dreary but you can't tell for their portraits! Mission accomplished.
I simply love the fall and all the amazing colors. Honestly, I think it is the most amazing time of year to get married. Even on a dreary day it's still gorgeous.
They say rain on your wedding day is good luck. Well, they just received a TON of luck. In the end it didn't matter what the weather did or if the photos would look rainy. It was that these two who love and adore eachother so much, get married and begin their lives together. I wish these two the best of luck, but they don't need it. They have it all anyway.
I am available for all of Colorado and destination weddings, elopements, and engagements. I love to wander.
