I was really excited for Stephanie and Sean's winter wedding at Devil's Thumb Ranch. Not only is it a great lodge with a classic cabin feel but the surrounding mountains are gorgeous; especially with snow.
First off if you haven't seen their engagement session check it out here. Stephanie and Sean are big into off-roading and racing. Sean's even done the Baja Race on a motorcycle.
What I remember so fondly about this wedding was their first look. I generally don't enjoy them. The couples are usually so concerned with the days plans that it takes over the moment. To combat this, I try to make sure the couple is alone and have them exchange letters or gifts. This way they can focus on that rather than how the day is going. Get more into the moment... and each other.
I had Sean sit on the porch and read the letter from Stephanie and had her come up from behind. It was such a great moment as I could see the excitement and weight of the day hit Stephanie and Sean was loving what she wrote to him. I certainly teared up too.
I also remember we had to be really careful where we walked for portraits as if you wandered too far off the hardpack you sank into the snow up to your knee or more. Not really ideal for your bride in a dress as beautiful as Stephanie's was. I also didn't expect Sean to have such great dance moves.
I am available for all of Colorado and destination weddings, elopements, and engagements. I love to wander.
