The Sangeet Indian Wedding Tradition is a fun night filled with henna tattoos, dancing and performaces, and amazing food. Think 1 part stage show and 1 part rehearsal dinner. Sangeet means ‘to sung together’ in Sanskrit. It's the event that starts the party of the wedding weekend. The Sangeet used to last 10 days and was initially only for females but nowadays everyone is invited and its just 1 fun-filled night.
Your family and friends put on performances that occasionally the couple will join in on. You can tell how much work they put into these as they aren't the easiest dances to do not remember all the movement. It's really impressive and fun to watch.
These are always fun because generally when I am photorgraphing someone's wedding I only have 1 day to spend with the couples family and friends. Having a Sangeet means I have a couple days to get to know people and have fun with. Most of the time is me making weird goofy faces and I am circling the room capturing everyone in candid moments.
