Choosing to have a Steamboat Mountain Wedding is a simple one. This may be the top wedding venue for you if:
I think Steamboat is great. It's away from the uber popular Vail and Beaver Creek, it's just as amazing and, I would argue, more picturesque. One big strength is that you get sunset views from on top of the mountain. Most mountain venues along I-70 face North or East so the sunset is off to the side or you are too low in a valley and can't see the horizon. Steamboat also has a good backup plan for bad and rainy weather.
Pro-tip: Several mountain wedding venues do not have a backup way to get to the top during inclement weather. You have to wait and that can postpone your wedding anywhere from 30 minutes to 3+ hours. Also no refunds. No bueno in my book. Make sure if you are interesting in one of these venues to ask about their backup plan and possible reschedules and refunds. Some venues have a road to the top and a way to shuttle your guests and vendors up there. Some do not. Another option is having it at the base of the mountain. Again, make sure to talk about the weather plan. Colorado's weather is wacky and it could snow or rain. If it gets too windy they will also stop the chairlift and gondolas.
The weather for Megan and Brody's wedding was awesome though. What I remember most is the aspen trees, the sunset, and the fact they had people from all over the world travel to Steamboat to celebrate their wedding. I think the furthest traveled person was from Signapore. Now those are good friends!
I am available for all of Colorado and destination weddings, elopements, and engagements. I love to wander.
