My relationship with Bethany and JT began when they came to visit Colorado and had me take thier engagement photos is Estes Park. We had so much fun and at the time they had a small wild idea to get married in Costa Rica. They are both into exploring, surfing, and travel. My mind immediately began to start generating ideas with them. Rainforests, Jungles, beaches, volcanos. I am in!
After our great day in Estes Park we stayed in touch and as their wedding plans progressed I mentioned being their personal travel photographer. We would explore some beaches, national parks, go surfing. I have underwater gear so why not??! They jumped at the idea.
First stop on the trip was at the Tamarindo Diria Beach Resort where they were staying. This was during rainy season, which definitely lived up to its name. While we were there it rained so much during a few evenings the eaves of the resort collapsed from just pure water saturation. Amazing to see just how much rain it was. The entire country does an incredible job mitigating it. While driving I never once felt the car hydroplane on the highway. The roads are designed with large side rain channels and the road itself moves the water to them quickly. I never felt nervous.
Rapport: I really invest myself into my clients to feel connected and understand their relatioship and how they are. Its a weird subtle thing that really drives me while capturing them. I am watching for all those unique little ways they are together. Paying attention to them while having this great experience together. Some of it may be guided as to where to stand cause the light is great here, but its really just giving them the space to be together. As a result my couples are very free to be themselves and not feel so subconcious about the camera. Sometimes im taking photos, sometimes I am not. It's just always there for when I see things. It's not all about photos either. It's also about you enjoying your honeymoon and spending time together - without me around.
Third Person: A huge bonus about having a photographer there that you trust is that you are in the photos. Inevitable someone is missing from your travel photos. How amazing would it be to be in all of them, and done artistically and professionally.
No Specific Time Limits: I am along for the ride. I am not watching the clock during a one hour session. Its more about the exploration, adventure, love of the moment. I am already there and just being present with you two.
Planning Help: I love to find fun experiences and places to see while traveling. My version of vacation is getting out there and getting in the mix. Eating amazing food, experiencing culture, making memories. I can't do that by the pool. I also can not only find those fun things to do and places to see but also do that at the right time of day to maximize on those incredible photos you will put in your house to remind you, "Yeah, we did that. That was so fun." I have been very fortunate to travel to several countries and well traveled and love sharing advice and help on how to make it as painless and fun as possible.
Drop me an email or DM or call and we can start bouncing ideas around on how to capture your amazing experiences so you can relive them every day afterward.
