When I pitched the idea of doing some underwater wedding photos during Erin and Nic's Turks and Caicos destination wedding Nic didn't bat an eye and Erin did neither. I think the only thing there were really concerned with was what to wear. I just didn't want to spend big $$$ to keep my gear dry. After all, how often am I going to be able to shoot underwater in the ocean? And who knows if the resulting images will be any good. As it turns out it was so much fun and the obstacles were completely different than I expected. Your body's bouyancy in the salt water is pretty compelling. It was so hard to get yourself a foot or two under the water. We had to nearly let all your air out and francticly swim to get under the water. In the end my wife stood on my shoulders to keep me under. I think the final product is pretty cool and a different perspective, a great story for Erin and Nic to tell their kids, and to push myself out of my "photographer comfort zone." Land is so overrated. : )
Make sure to check out their Pelican Beach photo shoot. Don't miss their The Sands at Grace Bay wedding and of course their day after session at an island only inhabited with iguanas.
I am available for all of Colorado and destination weddings, elopements, and engagements. I love to wander.
