The Black Diamond Lodge has to be one of the best Durango wedding venues. In fact, it's in my Top 5 Colorado Wedding Venues. Katie and Mike's Fall mountain wedding was gorgeous. The Silverpick Lodge is a neat little vacation spot just outside Durango and Silverton along the Million Dollar Highway and Red Mountain Pass. Fall is certainly my favorite season and nothing beats just lying on the ground and listening to the sound of wind move through aspen leaves.
I'm from Montrose, Colorado and these mountains have a special place in my heart; as do Katie and Mike. Never have I worked with such an amazing couple with so much love for each other. They have incredible style, and a love for whiskey. Check out their engagement session at Stranahans Distillery for proof.
Katie and Mike planned their wedding day so well that we had extra time for my favorite part of the day, portraits! They also had ample time to play lawn games with their guests before heading into the reception. Durango Mountain resort, Purgatory ski area, is just about a mile down the road. My second photographer and I rode some bicycles up the mountain before the wedding to go check it out and get some good coffee. Mike did some downhill mountain biking with his groomsmen before the ceremony.
Katie and Mike did the majority of design and work on their wedding themselves, along with family. They did have some awesome other vendors that helped. Her beautiful flowers were done by 3 Leaf Floral. The music and late-night karaoke was provided by Mr Soul Entertainment and hair by Anewu Salon.
I am available for all of Colorado and destination weddings, elopements, and engagements. I love to wander.
